Casa Nido
Your opportunity to stay for a short break or longer holiday in Guadalest, the Eagles Nest carved into the mountain.
Casa Nido is located in one of the most stunning positions in Spain just a few steps from the old village of Guadalest that is perched on the pinnacle of a granite mountain, giving fabulous views across the valley carved out by the river from which the village takes its name.
The apartment is beautifully furnished and comfortable with two double bedrooms, a lounge dining room with open plan kitchen, a bathroom and separate wc with hand washbasin. This is an ideal venue for two couples, a family or as a little rural love nest for a couple.
There is a lovely municipal swimming pool in Guadalest with a magnificent mountain backdrop.
Casa Nido can be rented weekly or for a short break of 3 days or more when, if you wish, your holiday can be combined with a few days at another property, perhaps on the coast.
Guadalest
From Casa Nido it is just 15km or 15 minutes drive to the Fontes de Algar waterfalls at Bolulla, that you will see featured on some postcards of the area, and approximately 25km, or 30 mins drive, to the coastal towns of Villajoyosa, Benidorm, Altea and Calpe. In the other direction at around 25km, or a 30 minute drive, will take you to the the Aitana Safari Park.
Travelling to Guadalest by the twisting road that climbs ever upwards, passing through the village of Polop, is almost as spectacular as the position of the village itself, but the breathtaking views make the drive worthwhile. On reaching Guadalest you can see why the Moors, who constructed castles to defend the area, considered this place a site of strategic importance. However the building you will see on most of the postcards is the whitewashed bell tower of Penon de la Alcala which seems to cling to the mountain face. Intriguingly the old village and castle is accessed through a tunnel carved from the rock and when you reach the other end and see the ancient houses, you seem to have been transported to another age. Guadalest is well known for hand made lace handkerchiefs that can be found on sale in the old part of town or even being made by the local women who produce them. Also typical to the town are ponchos, the "tocas" and embroidered "chales".
Guadalest has a population of only 200 people who dedicate themselves entirely to tourism. Some of the areas best museums can be found here where you can learn more about its history, plus little crafts shops and places to buy a souvenir of your visit.
